Reliance Jio has yet again updated its tariffs and this time, they’ve been discounted despite industry predictions which suggested a price bump. The telecom operator has revised its recently announced Happy New Year 2018 plans and now offers a GB of data every day starting at merely Rs 149, down from Rs 199. The new plans will be available from this month’s 9th.
The new offer essentially split the previous plans into two categories — one with 50% more data and another with Rs 50 discount. Therefore, in addition to price discounts on the 1GB/day plans, Reliance Jio has also introduced a series of new plans which offer high-speed data consumption of 1.5GB per day. The base package costs Rs 198 with a validity of 28 days. The company’s most popular Rs 399 plan is now priced at Rs 349. However, the Rs 399 still exists but offers either 1GB/day for 84 days or 1.5GB/day for a reduced period 70 days.
Similarly, you’ve two options in the Rs 449 price bracket — the Rs 448 package provides 1.5GB/day for roughly three months (84 days) and the Rs 449 one, on the contrary, offers 1GB/day for 91 days. Considering the fact that there is not much difference in the validity, the new 1.5GB/day plans seem more beneficial especially if you primarily use it for watching videos, shows, what have you.
All of these, of course, will require you to be a Prime member that costs a one-time fee of Rs 50. Moreover, they include complimentary access to Reliance Jio’s entertainment suite of apps such as JioCinema, JioTV, JioMusic and more. It’s also worth noting the telco, a few months ago, reduced the post-cap speeds by half bringing them down to 64kbps.
