Sony hasn’t had a great run in the smartphone market, but the Japanese brand isn’t ready to stall its ambitious Xperia operation yet. Within months of introducing its flagship Sony Xperia XZ1 at the IFA Berlin, the company has launched its successor in the form of the new Xperia XZ2. The all-new flagship improves on nearly everything that debuted on the Xperia XZ1, with the most drastic improvement underlying in the processing department.
Similar to the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, the Sony Xperia XZ2 comes with the latest processor from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 845 mobile platform The all-new chip makes the Xperia XZ2 the fastest smartphone from Sony’s stable till date. This is clubbed with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. There’s also a slot for memory expansion via a microSD card.
Designers at Sony has taken some design cues from the Xperia XZ1, and have modified the rest while making this all-new flagship. The Sony Xperia XZ2 sheds the boxy design we have grown on to see in nearly all Xperia branded devices. The premium handset now features an all-glass design, and for those wondering; Sony has made use of 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5 for developing this phone. Therefore, you needn’t worry about cracking your brand new flagship that easily. Upfront, the Sony Xperia XZ2 rocks a 5.7 inch 18:9 Triluminous HDR display.
Ever since time immemorial one of the major talking points of a Xperia smartphone has always the camera, and it’s no different with the Xperia XZ2. For starters, the 960fps video now comes in the new Galaxy S9 initially made its debut on the Sony Xperia XZ1 last year. This time around, Sony has stuck with a single rear camera setup, a 19MP f/2.0 unit with the company’s proprietary Exmor RS 1/2.3” sensor and 5-axis stabilization. What’s more interesting is the fact, that the Sony Xperia XZ2 can now record 960fps videos at Full HD resolution. Furthermore, it’s the first smartphone to support 4K HDR movie recording.

Sony hasn’t yet annouced a date for the official launch of the Xperia XZ2 flagship. Addiotionally it hasn’t revealed any details regarding the price of the upcoming smartphone.
