Acer is today extending its notebook lineup in India with the launch of the Swift 5. Announced originally way back in August last year, the laptop features a lightweight design which measures just a hair under a kilogram. In spite of that, however, the Swift 5 doesn’t lose much of the brawn you’d expect from a high-end Windows computer. It starts at a price of Rs.79,999 and will be available in Acer Exclusive stores in addition to other “leading retailers”.
The biggest highlight of the Swift 5 is the metallic design, which other than being supremely light, measures only 14.9mm in thinness. However, Acer has still managed to cram in a lot of hardware. For starters, it’s powered by Intel’s latest 8th-gen processors, 8GB of RAM, 512GB of SSD, and a battery that can last up to eight hours on a single charge. There’s a 14-inch Full HD panel which, unfortunately, doesn’t support touch input.
Moreover, the Swift 5 comes with a healthy port selection as well. It includes two USB-A 3.0 ports, one standard HDMI, 3.5mm audio jack and even a USB Type-C. Sadly, you can not charge it through that as it still has a proprietary system. It’s also compatible with Windows Hello and comes with a fingerprint reader.
Commenting further on the launch, Mr. Chandrahas Panigrahi, CMO and Consumer Business Head, Acer India, said, “We are ecstatic with the newest addition –Swift 5 to our range of Swift series laptops in India. This is another record breaker by being one of the lightest laptops in the world at an unbelievable 970gms. Cramming so much technology into such a lightweight body showcases our engineering and design capabilities and we are sure Swift 5 appeals to a wide variety of people looking for a portable, light-weight powerhouse laptop.”
