Alongside the all-new Mi Mix 2S, Xiaomi also launched its new AI-powered speakers along with its very own voice assistant. The Mi AI Speaker Mini works in conjunction with the smart home integration from the Mi Lab. Needless to say, the Mi AI Speaker Mini is a lite version of the Mi AI Speaker that was launched last year. So let us take a look at what all the Mi AI Speaker Mini has to offer.
The Mi AI Speaker comes equipped with voice commands for music playback, live radio, audio books, and songs. That apart the speaker can also be used to control IoT smart devices like ac, smart LED lights, home appliances and air conditioning. Just like the Amazon Echo, the developers can add new skills by using the software development kit. At this juncture, the Mi AI speaker seems to be available only for China. That apart, the AI trainer app will train the speaker and optimize it for your tasks. One can also map custom questions/commands to a specific task.
The Mi AI Speaker Mini is available for 169 yuan ($27/Rs 1,748) and will start retailing from 3rd April. If we go by the product images, the Mi AI Speaker Mini comes with navigation buttons on the top. These buttons can be used to activate, play, pause and skip to the next. Xiaomi Mi AI Speaker Mini will only be offered in White color option and the company is yet to announce the global availability details.
The Smart Speaker war is heating up with every OEM coming up with their own products. Amazon, Google, Samsung, Apple and also LG is offering smart speakers that also come bundled with a digital assistant. Xiaomi’s Mi Speaker Mini is likely to shape up as an intuitive hub to control all the Xiaomi backed smart devices.
