After nearly a year of its original launch, Meizu has today silently made its dual-screen Pro 7 smartphone in India through Amazon. Priced at Rs 22,999, the company announced it on its social channels and said it’s bringing only a handful of units. The Meizu Pro 7’s biggest highlight is, of course, the 1.9-inch AMOLED secondary display on the back beneath the camera which can be employed for various purposes such as clicking selfies from the rear sensor or even displaying notifications.
Apart from that, the phone also features two 12-megapixel camera sensors on the rear, one of which is a monochrome one. On the front, you’ll find a 5.5-inch Full HD AMOLED screen, although it’s not an 18:9 panel. It’s powered by MediaTek’s Helio P25 SoC, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage, and a 3000mAh battery which does support quick charging.
There’s also a fingerprint sensor embedded under the home button and the phone comes preloaded with a dated Android Nougat software with a custom skin on top. Moreover, it has a 16-megapixel selfie camera which, as of yet, cannot be used for unlocking the phone with a face.
For now, Meizu has only listed the Pro 7, not the Pro 7 Plus which comes with a bigger display and a more powerful processor. There’s also only a single color option — Black and the listing is a non-Prime one. Incidentally, Meizu did promise it will be launching the Pro 7 soon in India way back in November last year. We’re not sure what exactly took them so long and why they have decided to make it available so late, that too in such a humdrum manner. We have, though, confirmed with Meizu that it’s an official listing and the Kolkata-based distributor itself will be responsible for all the after-sales services. The phone will also be sold offline in coming days.
