DxO Labs has announced on their website that they have filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection. The company has been sailing in troubled waters for quite some time. Apart from the benchmarks, DxO mark is also involved in developing image editing software like the DxO Photo lab and the DxO One camera add-on for smartphones. The company is based out of France.
A couple of weeks ago, rumors were afloat that DxO Labs is filing for bankruptcy and is facing severe financial difficulties. It is also worth noting that DxO Labs was also planning a new version of the Nik Collection software after acquiring the same last year. That being said, we still don’t know the exact reason DxO Labs landed up in trouble in first place.
Last year, DxO Mark was spun off as an individual company. The filing of the bankruptcy will most likely not affect the day to day operation of the DxO Mark. That being said, DxO has been in the image processing business for quite some time. The DxO PhotoLab has originally launched 13-years ago while the DxO One is the company’s very own camera that can be controlled by an iPhone. Recently, DxO had also offered Android support for the DxO One with a USB Type-C connector. That apart, the company also offers a program called DxO Viewpoint. This program aims at helping professionals add film-like effects and is available for Mac and Windows.
“On March 7, 2018, DxO Labs chose to file for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Protection and is now in the process of restructuring the business. We are very confident that this procedure, which should not last for more than a few more weeks, will not affect our customers in any way.”- DxO Labs
