HMD Global is set to launch a new mid-range smartphone in the form of the Nokia X in China next week. It would be the first smartphone from the Finnish firm to behold a notch just above the display. As expected, the Nokia X has made its way to TENAA, and most of its specs have now been leaked by the Chinese certification authority.
The Nokia X has been in news for some time now, with the official renders of the smartphone surfacing online earlier this week. With that said, very little information was available regarding the specifications of the upcoming smartphone, except from the fact that it would sit in between the Nokia 6 (2018) and the Nokia 7 Plus in HMD stable. The recent TENAA listing, however, bares it all.
An alleged listing of a mysterious smartphone with model no Nokia TA-1099 makes us believe that its none other than the X. The presence of the notch flanking the upper part of the display makes it clear. The TENAA listing of the alleged Nokia X comes a week after the smartphone got listed on 3C.
According to the TENAA listing, the Nokia X sports a 5.8-inch FHD+ (2,280 x 1,080p) display on top. It comes with a glass fused to metal design with the panels curved down toward the edges. The smartphone has a modestly slim profile at 7.99mm and weighs about 151 grams.
Underneath the hood, the Nokia X features an unknown 1.8GHz octa-core processor. It’s believed the Nokia X is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 636 platform. For starters, the Nokia 6 and Nokia 7 Plus is powered by a Snapdragon 630 and Snapdragon 660 chips. TENAA further spills the bean by revealing the information regarding the specific variants of the new Nokia. As per the Chinese certification website, the Nokia X will come in these three following combinations – 3GB RAM + 32GB storage, 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 64GB storage respectively.
The Nokia X is seen sporting a dual camera setup on the rear, however, TENAA surprisingly has revealed the presence of a single 16MP sensor. Either the smartphone features two 16MP sensors on the rear, or TENAA has messed it up completely. The front of the Nokia X sports a 16MP selfie camera. Furthermore, the mid-range smartphone features a 3,000mAH battery.
HMD Global plans to launch the all-new Nokia X on May 16 in China. The smartphone will run on Android Oreo 8.1 and will be available in a range of colors including blue, black, silver and white.
