Blackberry is all set to launch the KEY2 on June 7th at an event in New York. Close to the heel of the launch Evan Blass has posted a couple of pictures of the upcoming KEY2. The leaked images give us an idea of what to expect from the Blackberry’s latest device and also the placement of physical Qwerty keyboard. BlackBerry themselves had released a teaser earlier on and this already gave us a sneak peek at what the KEY2 has to offer.
That being said, the changes in design are not noticeable at the first glance. However, on closer look, one can make out that the back of the device now comes with a textured finish along with the BlackBerry logo. Yet another important change is that the fingerprint sensor is integrated into the spacebar of the Qwerty keyboard.
Blackberry KEY2 Specfications Leak
The leak is also accompanied by a specification sheet. The KEY2 is expected to feature a 4.5-inch display with a 3:2 aspect ratio and Corning Gorilla 3 protection. The rear dual camera unit is made up of 12MP+12MP sensors accompanied with dual tone LED flash. Front/Selfie camera is an 8MP unit. On the storage front, the KEY2 is expected to offer 128GB of internal storage which is further expandable up to 256GB via microSD card slot.
This BlackBerry KEY2 is likely to be powered by Snapdragon 660 along with 6GB of RAM. The company is bullish over the improvements carried with regards to the QWERTY keyboard. As we speak, BlackBerry is one of the very few brands that still retains the physical QWERTY Keyboard and having a choice has never been a bad thing.
The right side of the BlackBerry KEY2 houses three buttons, volume rockers, and another unmarked button. In all likelihood, the unmarked button is customizable and can be assigned to features like camera. That apart the device is expected to run Android Oreo. Imaging options on the KEY2 include a dual rear camera setup while the qwerty keyboard will support gestures. Connectivity options on the BlackBerry KEY2 are likely to include the 3.5mm audio jack, USB Type-C, 4G LTE and dual-SIM support.
Blackberry KEY2 Pricing
As per Evan Blass, the BlackBerry KEY2 will be priced at $649 in the US, €649 in Europe, £579 in the UK and $829 in Canada. That’s quite a steep price for what it packs, but then, it’s the only phone from a major OEM coming with QWERTY keyboard on a smartphone. Would you be interested to buy one?
