With Reliance Jio’s foray into the Indian telecom industry, there have been multiple wars between network operators to provide data packs that are both cheap as well as offer long-term benefits and high FUPs. Vodafone is doubling down on its position and has introduced two new plans for its prepaid subscribers with high data benefits.
The Rs. 511 pack offers unlimited local, STD, and roaming voice calls along with 100 SMS messages per day, and 2GB of 4G data per day with a validity of 84 days, hence equating to a total data benefit of 168GB for the entire tenure.
The second pack, priced at Rs. 569, offers unlimited voice calls, the same 100 SMS messages per day benefit, but instead of 2, offers 3GB 4G data per day with a validity of 84 days, hence equating to a total data benefit of 252GB for the entire tenure.
If we have to compare similar data plans from other network providers, Jio has a prepaid pack priced at Rs. 448 that offers the same benefits, that is unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS messages and 2GB 4G data per day, but has the upper hand because it even offers free usage of its suite of Jio apps like Jio TV and Jio Music during the period of 84 days. However, if we compare the 3GB plan that Vodafone has to offer, Jio does not have any data pack rivaling the Rs. 569 plan from Vodafone, but instead has a pack that offers 3GB data per day for 28 days priced at Rs. 299.
On the other hand, Airtel also had revised its packs earlier this month to provide extended data benefits. Airtel offers a plan priced at Rs. 499 which includes 2GB 4G data per day along with free voice calls and 100 SMS messages and a validity of 82 days. However, Airtel does not have any data pack which offers 3GB of data per day to compete against Vodafone’s Rs. 569 pack.
If you are a Vodafone subscriber and you need a lot of data because you’re probably streaming the FIFA World Cup, the Rs. 569 pack seems like a steal. Vodafone is also offering Vodafone Play live streaming services along with this pack which is an icing on the cake.
