Meizu, once upon a time, was a decently well-known brand in India until it faced fierce competition from other Chinese brands like Xiaomi and Honor. Smartphones like the Meizu Pro 7 did come to India, but after a long wait, that too without any official launch and any bells and whistles that usually accompany a smartphone launch. However, an exclusive report by MeizuMatters reveals information received from a Meizu official that the Meizu M6T might soon be launched in India as a Flipkart exclusive.
The Meizu M6T is a relatively new phone launched in May this year. It sports a 5.7-inch Full HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the MediaTek MT 6750 chipset which is an octa-core CPU clocked at 1.5 GHz based on the Cortex A53 architecture coupled with the Mali T860 GPU for graphics. There’s 3GB of RAM along with 32GB of internal storage. The rear of the device houses a 13+2MP dual camera set up and the front-facing camera is an 8MP shooter. The internals are housed in a metal uni-body, and there is a 3300mAh battery to power the smartphone.
The Meizu M6T is priced at 799 Yuan in China which translates to about $120/INR 8,300. If launched in India at a similar price, the Meizu M6T faces competition from Xiaomi’s Redmi 5, which offers 2GB of RAM for Rs. 7999, 1GB lesser than that of the M6T, and comes with a single rear camera as opposed to the dual camera set up on the Meizu, and Oppo’s Realme 1, which is priced slightly higher than the M6T for the base variant but comes with a much more superior SoC. Flipkart is also said to provide some introductory offers in partnership with Reliance Jio. Would you pick the Meizu M6T over the Redmi 5? Let us know in the comments section below.
