Amazon’s annual Prime Day sale is slated to take place starting at noon on July 16 and going up to July 17, with India being one among seventeen countries participating in the company’s annual sale event for its loyal Prime subscribers throughout the world. This is the first time customers in India will gain access to hundreds of top international Prime Day deals. Amazon has about 100 million Prime subscribers globally, out of which 10%, i.e. about 10 million are from India.
Amazon also plans to offer delivery in up to 2 hours through its Prime Now app in four cities during the Prime Day sale across categories like smartphones and electronics. It will also offer fresh, new launches across various categories during Prime Day this year, with over 40 million products said to be available for purchase for Prime members. The new product launches around Prime Day will be from brands such as OnePlus, Nestlé, Marks & Spencer, Bosch, HP, Acer, Sennheiser, Seagate, Samsung, GAP, Asics and a few others.
Amazon India is said to have sold over a million products during last year’s Prime Day sale, which was its first in India after launching Prime services in 2016 in the country. The number is expected to go up this time, as there would be more deals including international ones. The company is also offering Virtual Reality or VR outlets this Prime Day at 11 malls across Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Kolkata.
Akshay Sahi, head of Amazon Prime in India, said that the number of Prime members have doubled since the last Prime Day sale in 2017, which calls for an even bigger event this year. Amazon will also offer new content through its Prime Video as well as Prime music app leading up to the sale.
