With less than 24 hours to go for the official launch, the Asus Zenfone 5Z has been listed on India’s leading e-commerce portal, Flipkart. The listing on Flipkart confirms that Asus is going with a very aggressive strategy to counter OnePlus’ and Honor’s dominance in this segment.
According to the listing, the Asus Zenfone 5Z will be available in three variants – the base variant having 6GB of RAM along with 64GB of storage starting at a price of Rs. 29,999, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage of Rs. 32,999 and 8GB of RAM along with 256GB storage for Rs. 36,999, which seems to be extremely aggressive, as the price of the top-end variant is just Rs. 1000 more than the OnePlus 6’s base variant. The two color options listed include Midnight Blue and Meteor Silver. Flipkart is also providing a few launch offers along with the device like no-cost EMIs.
To recall, the Asus Zenfone 5Z was unveiled back in February 2018 at MWC. The Zenfone 5Z comes with Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 845 chip under the hood coupled with the Adreno 630 GPU and runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with Asus’ ZenUI 5.0 on top. There is a 6.2-inch FullHD+ LCD display on the front with an aspect ratio of 19:9, thanks to the notch. The smartphone has a dual rear camera setup with a 12MP primary sensor, along with an f/1.8 aperture lens, and an 8MP secondary sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. For selfies, there is a front facing 8MP camera with an aperture of f/2.0 and 84 degree field of view. There is also support for face unlock as well as some AI features baked into the camera. The Zenfone 5Z is backed by a 3300mAh battery along with support for AI-based fast charging.
The Zenfone 5Z is slated to be announced on the 4th of July, and going by the leaked prices, it looks like the Asus Zenfone 5Z will be priced much lesser compared to its global counterparts, making it extremely competitive in India.
