Oppo is known for its camera-centric smartphones, and has today launched its first dual camera smartphone in India, the Oppo A3s. As surprising as it may sound, Oppo never had a smartphone in India with dual cameras to the back, something which every manufacturer in 2018 wants to have on their smartphones.
Speaking about the cameras, the A3s sports a 13+2 MP rear camera set up along with an 8MP front-facing camera with support for AI features like face beautification. To the front, there is a 6.2-inch 720p HD+ display along with a notch, which Oppo calls a Super Full-Screen display, resulting in a screen to body ratio of 88.8%. The smartphone also features a large battery at 4230mAh. Talking about the internals on the Oppo A3s, to the heart of the device, we have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 chip, which is an octa-core CPU clocked at 1.8 GHz coupled with the Adreno 506 GPU. There’s 2GB of RAM along with 16GB of internal storage, which seems to be the only major letdown of the device so far. At this price, Oppo could have bumped up the RAM and storage to 3+32GB. The software is Android Oreo-based Color OS 5.1, as found on all Oppo devices.
Commenting on this launch, Will Yang, Brand Director, OPPO India, said, “OPPO is committed towards offering consumers a product that syncs with their demands. Thus, we pay a lot of attention towards listening and understanding their expectations from a smartphone. With A3s, we aim to offer consumers, especially youth, who are looking for an advanced camera phone that offers a strong battery life. With advanced features like dual camera, super full screen and extensive battery, this device has been designed to enable consumers to capture cherished moments all day long. The A3s truly represents our ambition to continue being the Selfie Expert and Leader in the market.”
The Oppo A3s will be sold in color variants – Red and Dark Purple, starting July 15 for a price of Rs. 10,990. The smartphone can be purchased online through Flipkart, Amazon and PayTM as well as offline retailers across the country.
