After launching its flagship bezel-less smartphone in China last month, Vivo has now launched the Vivo NEX in India at a price of Rs. 44,990.
The variant of the Vivo NEX launched in India is the top-end model which goes by the name of NEX Ultimate or NEX S in China. To recall, the Vivo NEX sports a large 6.59-inch 19.3:9 Super AMOLED Ultra FullView display with an incredible screen to body ratio of 91.24%. To achieve this look, Vivo had to move the front-facing 8MP camera to the top housed in a mechanized enclosure which will pop up when the camera app is opened.
The NEX also sports a fingerprint scanner embedded into the display region, using the same technology as we saw on the Vivo X21, but is touted to be 50% more accurate and 10% faster.
The conventional earpiece on the front seems to be replaced with a vibrating piezoelectric earpiece integrated within the display which propagates sound waves through vibrations, similar to the implementation seen on the original Xiaomi Mi Mix. Ambient light, as well as proximity sensors, are concealed in the display assembly as well. The rear camera is a Sony IMX 363 sensor, which we’ve seen on smartphones like the Mi Mix 2S or the Asus Zenfone 5Z, with dual 12MP cameras and a pixel size of 1.4 microns. There’s also support for AI scene detection and AI HDR along with 4-axis OIS for video recording. Under the hood, the Vivo NEX sports a Snapdragon 845 chipset with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage, and sports a mammoth 4000mAh battery.
As stated earlier, the Vivo NEX has been priced at Rs. 44,990 in India and will be sold in just one variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The smartphone will be sold only in Black color and exclusively on Amazon when it comes to online and in offline retail stores as well starting 21st July. Launch offers include Rs 4000 cashback on HDFC cards and EMI, extra Rs 5000 on exchange of old phones, no cost EMI up to 12 months, Rs. 1950 cashback for Reliance Jio users, One-time free screen replacement and assured buyback.
