Huawei is all set to launch its next smartphone in India. After the flagship Mate 20 Pro, it’s time for a more budget-oriented device which is the Huawei Y9.
According to a teaser by Amazon India, the Huawei Y9 is set to be coming soon and while the banner itself does not give out much about the phone, the specs are known to us since the phone was launched back in October 2018 in a few markets including China.
The Huawei Y9 (2019) runs on the relatively new Kirin 710 SoC which we have seen previously in the Honor 8X. To go along with the chipset is Huawei’s proprietary GPU Turbo technology which enhances the gaming performance of the smartphone by optimizing the CPU cores and also provides haptic feedback while playing certain games.
The Y9 is targeted towards consumers who are looking for a big-screen smartphone as the display on the front is a large 6.5-inch panel. The resolution is 1080 x 2340 pixels and Huawei calls it the FullView display with a notch. The notch itself is quite large but Huawei has made the right use of space by including dual front-facing cameras with resolutions of 13 and 2 MP and apertures of f/1.8 and f/2.4 respectively. Going by the megapixel count of the secondary lens, it seems like it’s a depth sensing unit rather than a wide-angle lens found on phones like the Pixel 3.
The rear also sports two cameras, a primary 16MP f/2.0 lens, and the same 2MP secondary sensor. Both the front and rear cameras have AI capabilities to optimize images based on the scene. There may be two RAM and storage configuration available with 3/4GB of RAM and a standard 64GB of internal storage. There’s a fingerprint scanner on the back and the battery is a large 4000mAh unit which seems necessary given the huge display.
The Huawei Y9 should be launching in India sometime soon and while there is no word about pricing yet, the devices should be launched somewhere in the lower-midrange territory.
