The new 4.7 inch iPhone 6 is here, along with the ‘phablet’ 5.5 inch iPhone 6 Plus. So if you’re looking for an upgrade and you don’t want to be tied to a carrier contract, I guess you’re curious to see what are the prices for the off-contract, factory unlocked iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

The iPhone 6 is $649 off contract and the iPhone 6 Plus is $749 off contract. You can go ahead an pre-order your iPhone 6 or iPhone 6 Plus from the official Apple website, but don’t forget that pre-orders go live on September 12, which is this Friday. Here are the entire list of pricings for the off-contract iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

It’s interesting that when you’re buying an unlocked iPhone 6, you’re actually buying it from T-Mobile, so I guess this is a rather big win for the carrier that has always tried to show that cares for consumers, especially with “un-carrier” plans. When pre-ordering your unlocked iPhone, you can choose from the usual Silver, Gold and Space Gray colors.

Edit: We had earlier mentioned that the iPhone 6 sold via T-mobile in US is carrier locked, but that’s not the case. It’s factory unlocked and can be activated and used with any GSM SIM anywhere in the world. Hence becomes the cheapest iPhone 6 to buy in the world.

We shall soon be updating the unlocked iPhone 6 prices in other countries as well. US and seven other countries will be getting the iPhone 6 first on September 19th. As we mentioned earlier, iPhone 6 will be launching in India on October 17th. Tim Cook mentioned that Apple is planning to launch the iPhone 6 smartphones in 115 countries by end of this year!

Update: As mentioned above, currently, the unlocked iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus being sold in the US are still carrier locked, and we expect the factory unlocked versions to go on sale sometime in December this year. Till then, you can look at Apple stores in other countries like Hong Kong, Australia etc where the iPhones are always sold carrier unlocked.

        1. Based on other websites I’ve seen, if you buy a phone from T-Mobile, it will be locked to T-Mobile. But if you buy the no-contract “for T-Mobile” phone, it will be unlocked.

  1. It is not an “Unlocked” iPhone. This is a false news. The iPhone 6 from T Mobile will be locked to T-Mobile only.

    1. You are incorrect. The T-Moble and Verizon iPhone are NOT locked. AT&T and Sprint iPhones are SIM locked. Simply stated, the T-Mobile and Verizon iPhone will work with any operator’s SIM.

  2. I’m not so sure about this. Last year I bought a T-Mobile 5s as a pre-order (I had AT&T at the time.), swapped SIMs and was on my merry way. What are people citing that states otherwise?

  3. Totally misleading. You cannot just queue up to purchase an unlocked iPhone 6 from Singapore, Hong Kong, or Australia. In each country Apple online ONLY ships within country. So if you want to unlocked iPhone 6 in Australia, you need an Australian shipping address.
