Apple’s iPad business isn’t going as great as before, but rumors and hearsay suggest the company could be looking to bring an oversized iPad on the market, dubbed by many ‘iPad Pro’. At the moment, it’s not sure whether this will happen or not, but we’re starting to see interest in tablets that are bigger than usual picking up. Samsung has tried its luck with the Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 and now it seems that Sony’s next on the line.
According to Chinese news site Padnews, the Japanese company could be planning to unveil the 12.9-inch Xperia Z4 Tablet Ultra with super specs and features. Let’s have a look at the amazing rumored characteristics of this gadget:
- 12.9-inch display resolution of 3840 x 2400
- 2.86GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor with 6GB of RAM (2 x 3GB)
- 64GB of built in storage
- HDMI 1.4 input for 4K video camera recording at up to 30fps
- PS4 Remote Play
- Huge 12100mAh battery pack
- 8.6mm thin
These are some amazing specs, but we’ll take it with a grain of salt, since this could force the OEM to set a pretty big price. I, for one, seriously doubt the 6GB of RAM and that humongous battery. If you ask me, 4GB is still mind-blowing, and I really don’t see how could they embed such a huge battery and be able to produce a device that’s not heave on your hands..
Not to mention that the previous generation is also waterproof, dust-tight and scratch resistant, which also increase the overall production cost. So, if you want my opinion, I think that the upcoming Sony Z4 Tablet Ultra will indeed feature top-class specs, but not these ones that have been leaked. The slate could be unveiled at the forthcoming MWC 2015 show in February, where the company has previously unveiled other devices.
