OnePlus is a new company that has seen unexpected success with its first smartphone – the OnePlus One. With many still looking to get their hands on a device, rumors have already started regarding the next-generation handset – the OnePlus Two.
But according to fresh information coming from Forbes’ Ewan Spence, it seems that OnePlus will be promoting the upcoming handset as the ‘OnePlus 2′. So, this means that it won’t be called OnePlus Two, but OnePlus 2. It’s not such a big deal, but it will help you when you will search online.
And, if you ask me, Samsung should’ve done the same thing for the Galaxy line of products straight from the beginning. But it took them a while to realize that a simple, digit-based naming makes more sense. And I’m glad to see OnePlus not making this mistake.
Going further, Forbes says the device will pack Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 processor and it seems that because of manufacturing challenges with the SoC, the launch of the OnePlus 2 has been delayed to the third quarter of 2015.
If there’s any truth to this report, then it further adds to the speculation that Snapdragon 810 could be soffering from an overheating problem. Reports say that Samsung has already dropped the Snapdragon 810 for use in their Galaxy S6 smartphone for their in-house Exynos chip. OnePlus doesn’t have the means of the South Korean company, so it will have to wait until Qualcomm will figure out a solution.
