This year’s Mobile World Congress in Barcelona is going to be packed with a lot of hot products, and we will be there to report on the latest news. We already know that the Samsung Galaxy S6 could be there, along with such other exciting new devices as the Lenovo Vibe Z3 Pro, Sony’s upcoming Xperia Z4 Ultra Tablet and others. And now it seems that Microsoft too wants to have its own party.
According to Italian publication HDBlog, Microsoft will be hosting a media event at MWC 2015 and has started already sending invites. As you can see in the above screenshot, the invite doesn’t divulge any details at all, only disclosing the time and day of announcement – 08:30am CET (1 pm IST) on March 2, the first day of the Mobile World Congress 2015.
However, word on the street is that Microsoft will introduce a low-end Lumia 6xx handset at the event. A successor to the Lumia 1320 is also rumored, and there has also been hearsay that a flagship Windows Phone device could take the stage at MWC. But there have been sources saying the next Microsoft flagship smartphone will not launch at MWC 2015 but instead arrive ‘later this summer’. Therefore, maybe other OEMs will bank on the Windows 10 potential, but that remains to be seen.
A low-cost version of the Lumia 830 is also a possibility, as it seems at the moment that many companies are focused on emerging markets. The reason why Microsoft is delaying the launch of a top-notch product is obvious – they want to ship it to customers with a final, refined version of Windows 10. And I bet that you’re curious how is that going to look like.
