Yesterday we were talking about a little-known smartphone by the name of Innos D6000 which was said to feature the biggest battery capacity yet in a handset. This is allegedly possible thanks to a unique ‘double cell structure technology’ which comprises of two batteries to result in a massive 6,000mAh battery. And now we’re hearing fresh reports that Gionee could be doing the same thing for its upcoming M5 device.
A fresh report coming from GizmoChina suggests that the upcoming Gionee M5 smartphone is also going to get two batteries. The publication has obtained a teaser from the company which depicts two batteries. For now, we don’t know if the technology is similar to the one used by Innos, but it seems that the duo should provide up to four days of battery life, which is quite impressive.
Most likely, the smartphone will feed itself only on a single battery and will then switch to second one. We’ve seen with the Innos device that one of the two is replaceable and external, so this could be just as a great solution for Gionee, as well. There’s still little that we know regarding the Gionee M5, but maybe it could join the Elife E8, which is said to launch in the second week of June.
The device is most likely going to be a direct successor to the Marathon M3 device, which featured a 5,000mAh battery on the inside. So, it would make sense for Gionee to continue this ‘tradition’. The previous phones in the M line were also mid-range, so we could expect the same to happen with the M5, as battery life is going to be its unique selling proposition.
