If you are a prospective OnePlus 2 customer residing in either US or Canada we have some not so good news for you. OnePlus has announced a shipping delay ranging from two to three weeks for US and Canada customers. On the contrary, the company told The Verge that OnePlus 2 will still be up for grabs to folks with an invitation but the North American customers will have to wait till late August to receive their handset.
OnePlus attributed the delay to “change in production schedules” but it didn’t explain what exactly was the reason. Released a few weeks earlier, OnePlus 2 has been the talk of the town and the bllion dollar question was whether it will be as successful as the OnePlus One.
OnePlus 2 India sales will be flagged off from 4PM today at Amazon and this will be followed by the accessory sale later this week. Buyers can claim their glory by using their invite from the OnePlus account.
The company will be prioritizing invites and fans which have registered for the pop-up stores, fan meets, early forum members, early purchasers and the most active OnePlus One invite evangelists will be given an invite.
The other folks who plan to buy the OnePlus 2 can participate in contests and promotions in order to get the invite. Apart from the above mentioned invite system, OnePlus has also created a reservation list which will entertain the buyers on first come, first serve basis and the invites will be sent as and when the inventory gets replenished.
The fact that OnePlus 2 registration has hit the 1-million milestone sounds both exciting and unnerving at the same time. OnePlus 2 invites are scarce and we hope that the company has fine tuned the invite distribution system so that buyers are not starved of the product.
