The Samsung Galaxy A9 has been churning the rumor mills from quiet some time and now the phone has been listed on the company’s Iran website. In fact, it’s the website of the official representative of Samsung in Iran. The listing page gives away most of the details about the Galaxy A9 but still withholds the pricing details.
The Galaxy A9 is expected to come with a 5.5-inch FHD display and will be powered by the octa-core Snapdragon 620 and glued with 3GB of RAM. On the imaging front, the Galaxy A9 is fitted with a 16-Megapixel primary camera sensor and a 5-Megapixel secondary sensor. The camera app touts the usual bunch of features including smile detection, geo-tagging and the Touch Focus. The Galaxy A9 will be offering a rather generous 32GB of internal storage along with a memory card slot that supports an additional 128GB.
Just like most of the recent Samsung phones, the Galaxy A9 comes draped in metal, the phone seems to employ an unibody construction which indicates at non removable battery. The connectivity options on this phone include 4G LTE support, Dual SIM, NFC and the GPS. The Galaxy A9 will be offered in Gold, White and Black colors, however the listing didn’t mention anything about the battery capacity. The A9 succeeds the Galaxy A8 which scored pretty high in our detailed review few weeks back, so this one should be interesting as well.
Although the listing hints at an impending launch, it is not uncommon for the manufacturers to change the images and the specifications before the actual launch, for all we know the possibility that the images might just be dummy ones cannot be completely ruled out, thus just like all the other pieces of rumor this one too needs to be treated as one.
Samsung is fortifying its budget offering with the J series phones and intends to do the same with the mid-range phones with its “A” series. The Galaxy A9 if priced right might help the Korean manufacturer achieve the much needed sales boost and also strengthen its foothold in the mid-range segment.
