Microsoft had sent invites for the Surface Pro 4 launch last month and today the company has launched the same alongside the Surface Pro 3 at an event in India. As expected the Surface Pro 4 will not come cheap and the base version itself will cost Rs 89,990/$1350 (for Core i5, 4GB RAM and 128GB storage) while the top of the line Surface Pro 4 would cost over a lakh. In a bid to bring down the base price and to lure the first time Surface buyers Microsoft has also launched the Surface Pro 3 starting at Rs 73,990/$1110 (for core i3, 4GB RAM, 128GB storage). The tablets will be exclusive to Amazon India for 6 months from launch.
As one might have observed the 2-in-1s are hogging the limelight eversince Apple launched the iPad Pro, these are the machines that promise a decent performance and yet score high on portability. The Hybrids also score on productivity front since they come with accessories like the smart keyboard and the stylus.
A quick recap on the Surface Pro 4 Specs shows, 6th Gen Intel Core (Skylake) i3, i5 and i7 processor laced with Intel HD graphics and the top of the line variant also equipping the Intel Iris graphics. The Surface Pro 3 comes with a 12.3-inch PixelSense display with 267ppi on the tab and on the storage front the options shape up in the form of 128GB, 256GB and 512GB storage. Buyers will also get to pick up the RAM ranging from 4GB to 16GB. Microsoft has fitted a 8-Megapixel primary sensor and a 5-Megapixel secondary sensor.
Let’s not forget the Surface Pro 3 which still screams a great deal for the price it is being offered for. The Surface Pro 3 has a 12-inch display and is powered by the 4th Gen Intel Core Processor with options inclusive of i3, i5 and i7. Just like in Surface Pro 4 users can choose the RAM up to 8GB. It also comes with a Pen input and a docking station that allows you to project to 4K monitors.
The Surface Pro 4 will be available on Amazon India starting from Rs 89,990 and the device will be bundled with free Surface Pen. The smart keyboard will set you off by another Rs 12,490. Surface Pro 4 will support most of the Microsoft accessories including the new Microsoft Display Dock. In case you are looking out for a Hybrid 2-in-1 machine that is extremely portable and yet capable of managing your daily computing chores, the Surfaces would have deserved a second look, but sadly, these prices look way too steep for now.
