Xiaomi has finally debuted their range of Smart Home products in India with the launch of Mi Air Purifier 2. It’s the successor to the original Mi Air Purifier that was initially introduced in China towards the end of last year.
The Mi Air Purifier 2 is a compact smart home product from Xiaomi that does exactly what it says. Unlike other air purifiers, though, this one can be controlled directly via the Mi Smart House App. It not only allows you to control the air purifier remotely but also check the quality of air in the room at any given time. Xiaomi claims that their air purifier is capable of removing 99.7% of PM 2.5 particulates in less than hour. Priced at Rs 9,999 the Mi Purifier is one of the most affordable air purifier which is also smart.
The second generation smart air purifier from the Lei Jun led company is significantly compact and power efficient that its predecessor. For stats, the base of the Mi Air Purifier 2 is smaller than a sheet of A4 paper. That aside, the Mi Air Purifier 2 is capable of cleaning the surrounding air at a faster rate. As per the company statement, the purifier boasts of a CADR (Cleaning Air Delivery Rate) of 388 cubic meter/hour; which is about 20% faster than its predecessor. Internally the Mi Air Purifier 2 packs a single motor along with dual booster fans and three layers of filters including pre-filter, HEPA filter and activated carbon filter. Xiaomi claims that the Mi Air Purifier 2 will replace the air in a 750 sq.ft 1 BHK within 20-minutes. Also, the filter is expected to last for 6-months and it can be changed without any professional help, and it’s priced at Rs 2,499.

The companion app will allow multiple users to have access to the air purifier and the time schedule feature will allow you to schedule the purifier for the entire week. Another useful bit is the fact that Mi Air Purifier 2 will come automatically remind you when its the time to change the filter. The Mi Air Purifier 2 has greatly improvised when it comes to the form factor, the new Air Purifier has a smaller footprint than its predecessor and weighs 40% less at just 4.8kg.
The Mi Air Purifier 2 will be available on Mi.com starting Sep 26, and also on Flipkart starting Oct 2.
