OnePlus 3T has now been made official in India at Rs 29,999, after having launched globally a few weeks back. Before entering India, the latest flagship smartphone from the high-flying Chinese OEM has made its way to US, UK and Europe wherein, the device has replaced its few months old brother, the OnePlus 3. That said, OnePlus hasn’t (yet) decided to discontinue their OnePlus 3 in India, rather they simply added the 3T as an alternative for consumers with deeper pockets.
It’s still not clear as to why OnePlus decided to launch the OnePlus 3T just 6 months after the launch of its predecessor, especially when the OnePlus 3 was garnering praises all around for being one of the best smartphones of 2016. For the uninitiated, the OnePlus 3T comes with the upgraded Snapdragon 821 processor clocked at 2.35GHz along with 6GB of RAM.It is also worth noting that the Snapdragon 821 inside the OnePlus 3T is about 10% more powerful than the Snapdragon 820 without putting extra load on the battery. Apart from that, the OnePlus 3T features a few other changes here and there but mostly things have remained unchanged.
From the exteriors, it’s hard to distinguish the OnePlus 3T from the 3, except for the new gun metal back of the device. It will also be available in a Soft Gold edition. OnePlus has also kept the dimensions same despite including a markedly larger battery inside. It now features a 3,400mAH battery inside up from the 3,000mAh cell in its predecessor. It goes without saying it comes with the company’s proprietary Dash Charge technology. It will allow you to charge your device from 0-100% within just about an hour. The rear camera of the OnePlus 3T while retaining the same Sony IMX 298 sensor from the OnePlus 3 features the upgraded EIS 3.0. This basically will help stabilize the video footage shot from the device.
In an interesting announcement, OnePlus has revealed that their OnePlus 3T would be ‘Made in India’. This is the first time the company is launching a phone that will be made in this country. The OnePlus 3T will be available in two variants – 64GB and 128GB. While the cheaper 64GB variant will go on sale at Rs 29,999; the 128GB variant would set you back at Rs 34,999. It will go on sale exclusively via Amazon on December 14. Amazon Prime members, however, would get exclusive access two days earlier on December 12.
