Asus has launched its latest smartwatch the ZenWactch 3 in India. Priced starting from Rs 17,599, the ZenWatch 3 comes at the right time since Google is expected to release the final version of Android Wear 2.0. The ZenWatch comes with a focus on activity tracking and the aesthetics as well. The watch is crafted with 316L grade stainless steel which is complemented by the variety of straps.
Asus ZenWatch 3 comes powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 2100 and is coupled with 512MB of RAM. On the storage front, the watch offers 4GB memory. The ZenWatch 3 is equipped with a 1.39-inch AMOLED display set at a resolution of 400p offering pixel density of 287ppi and multitouch support. Furthermore, the display is protected by 2.5 curved Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
The connectivity options include built-in microphone for voice commands, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, call and messaging support. Asus ZenWatch 3 boasts of IP67 protection and supports HyperCharge technology that is designed to be power efficient and charge the watch by up to 60-percent in a matter of 15-minutes. Unlike the first gen Android Wear watches, the ZenWatch 3 offers a battery backup of up to 2-days. Asus will also be providing an optional battery pack that will increase the battery backup by another 40 percent.
The ZenFit app comes with a pedometer that touts to be accurate 95-percent of the times and it also nudges users in case a prolonged period of inactivity is detected. The app will now also track various other activities including push-ups, sit-ups along with running and walking. Strap customization is something that Smartwatch manufacturers swear by and with the ZenWatch 3 one will get a chance to pair their watch strap along with the 50 software faces in order to match up to their style, mood and most importantly preference. The FaceDesigner smartphone app will also allow the users to create their own watch face. Asus Zenwatch comes at a time when wearables market share is declining and OEM’s are shifting their focus from the smartwatch.
