LeEco has been in the news recently thanks to its brewing financial trouble and the decision to streamline its operations by laying off employees. Amidst all this news most of us were curious on whether or not LeEco has a new device in the pipeline. Well, LeEco has answered our questions by announcing the LeEco Le Pro3 Elite which had earlier marked its presence is a series of leaks.
The LeEco Le Pro3 Elite will be a new variant to the LeEco Le Pro3 (instead of an iterative upgrade) that was announced last year. The company has downgraded the Snapdragon 821 in the LeEco Le Pro 3 with Snapdragon 820 on the LeEco Le Pro3 Elite. Apart from the change of heart, everything else is shared with the Le Pro3. The LeEco Le Pro3 Elite comes equipped with a 5.5-inch FHD display paired with 4GB of RAM. On the storage front, the device offers 32GB of internal storage.
The LeEco Le Pro3 Elite sports a metal build and will be made available only in gold color. Other compromises on the Le Pro3 Elite is the absence of NFC. However, the device comes backed with a 4070 mAh battery and is bundled with 3 months of free subscription to LeEco’s streaming partners.
The LeEco Le Pro3 Elite is up for sale on lemall.com and attracts a price tag of CNY 1699 (apprx.$245) which is a mere $30 less from the Le Pro3 that is currently selling at CNY 1899. Now, this sets me wondering if one would forego a new generation flagship SoC and an NFC chipset for an Elite tag and a $30 discount, I personally doubt so. The LeEco Le Pro3 doesn’t seem to offer anything “Elite” as opposed to the Le Pro3. The silver lining though is that LeEco is still breathing and is planning to unveil new handsets.
