Huawei has now launched its Honor 8 Pro smartphone in Europe. The latest flagship smartphone from Honor that apparently offers a better price to performance ratio than the Huawei P10, was initially launched in China as the Honor V9.
The Honor 8 Pro comes in a tastefully designed metal unibody profile. Despite having Honor 8 in its name, the latest smartphone from Huawei doesn’t share the design language with its smaller sibling; as is evident from the absence of glass on the rear. Instead, the metal back of the Honor 8 Pro bears two horizontal antenna bands for better cellular reception. Apple fanboys might not be convinced with the looks of the Honor 8 Pro though. The premium smartphone apparently seems to have drawn its design inspiration from iPhone.
Coming to the specs, the Honor 8 Pro packs a large 5.7 inch Quad HD (2,560 x 1,440) IPS LCD display on the front. So it goes, without saying that the smartphone indeed has quite a big footprint. Underneath, the Honor 8 Pro is powered by a Kirin 960 octa-core SoC and a Mali G71 MP8 GPU. This is mated with a whopping 6GB of RAM, thereby pushing the Honor 8 Pro into OnePlus 3T territory. For storage, Huawei has included a 64GB of UFS 2.1 memory chip inside its Honor 8 Pro.
Considering the fact Huawei is calling it a Pro variant of the Honor 8, we can expect something to be similar with the cheaper sibling. Well, that’s the camera. The Honor 8 Pro shares the same excellent 12MP dual rear camera setup of its predecessor. For the unitiated, one of these 12MP shooters click in monochrome while the other does in RGB. Thereafter, the two images are stitched together using Huawei’s own software to produce an image with improved details and depth of field.
Powering the Honor 8 Pro is a 4,000mAH battery that comes with fast charging technology. Huawei has included a USB Type-C port for the same. The flagship smartphone runs on Android Nougat 7.0 with EMUI 5.1 on top.
The Honor 8 Pro is currently available for pre-orders in Europe via Honor’s vMall.eu starting at €549 ($585/Rs 38,050 approx.) It will also go on sale on Amazon from April 20. Apart from the smartphone, Huawei is also bundling in a VR Headset, tripod and a memory card along with its Honor 8 Pro.
