Last year’s Honor 8 may not have made wonders in the market for Huawei, but it was indeed a beautifully crafted flagship device. Now, its successor seems to be round the corner already. The Honor 9 has now cleared TENAA certification in China revealing the design and internals of the smartphone.
From the images on TENAA website, it’s quite evident that the Honor 9 bears design resemblance with its predecessor. It comes with the same all-glass design that’s held together by a metal frame. Unlike on its predecessor, the rear glass of the Honor 9 curves a lot to both sides of the device. The curved back is somewhat reminiscent to the Xiaomi Mi5.
Apart from that, the fingerprint sensor on the device has now moved from the rear to the front. It’s in fact embedded in a pill-shaped button which will possibly support a large number of gestures. Furthermore, the bezels of the device are thinner than before. The display size of the smartphone, however, is still same at 5.15-inch Full HD IPS.
Just like last year, the main highlight of the Honor 9 would be its dual rear camera setup. The TENAA listing reveals that the smartphone will come with an improved 20MP + 12MP rear camera setup. This dual rear setup would further be bolstered by a laser autofocus sensor and dual LED flash. The upcoming flagship device from Honor also features a 8MP front camera.
Underneath the hood, the Honor 9 will be powered by a Kirin 960 octa-core processor. The Huawei P10, launched earlier this year apparently comes with the same processor. Besides, the Honor 9 will come with two RAM variants. While the standard edition will sport 4GB RAM, the top end model is said to come with a whopping 6GB RAM. The storage on the smartphone would however be fixed at 64GB. Finally, the Honor 9 will pack a 3,100mAh battery on the inside, which is a marginal improvement over its predecessor.
The Honor 9 will be running Android Nougat 7.0 with the latest EMUI 5.0 skin on top. As for the pricing, the standard and the top end variant of the Honor 9 is expected to go on sale in China at 2,299 Yuan ($335 approx.) and 2,599 Yuan ($380 approx.) respectively. Previous rumors reveal that the Honor 9 will debut in China on June 27.
