Microsoft already has a fascinating keyboard lineup, and the Surface lineup impresses me the most. This time around the company has unveiled a new keyboard that it likes to call “Modern Microsoft Keyboard” and the same is listed as coming soon on the Microsoft Store. The keyboard can be used in both wired and wireless mode, and the best part of it all is that Microsoft is including a Fingerprint sensor housed in a key.
As one might have already noticed, the Modern keyboard looks identical to the one launched along with the Surface Studio last year. The aluminium exterior, the key layout and pretty much everything else resembles the earlier Surface keyboard. Needless to day the fingerprint sensor will support Windows Hello sign-ins and Microsoft has also announced a modern mouse to go with the keyboard.
The Modern Mouse is nearly identical to the Surface Mouse with no difference whatsoever. That being said Microsoft unveiled both of the products in a rather unusual way by just uploading the product videos on YouTube. Moving on, Microsoft has also unveiled a new Arc Mouse which was first showcased along with the Surface Laptop. The Arc mouse looks better than its predecessor but I still don’t know what new features it has to offer.
Interestingly, all of the newly released accessories come sans the Surface branding. Perhaps, Microsoft wants to make it clearer that these accessories will work with any computers or maybe they want a separate non-Surface branded lineup. That being said the Surface Keyboards still come stamped with the Surface branding. The Microsoft Modern Keyboard with Fingerprint ID is up for orders and will make a dent of $130 while the pricing of the mouse is yet to be revealed.
