Bulky chargers with dangling wires have been part and parcel of our digital lives but what if we could get rid of both of them. Kado is a Kickstarter project that promises to solve your wall charger woes with its slim charger. The company believes that wall chargers are often too bulky and can’t be carried on so they have come up with an ultra thin wall charger that can be stored in your wallet.
At 5mm, Kado is the slimmest wall charger in the world. Thankfully, the cable is fully retractable and folds itself on the periphery of the charger. Kado also comes with an optional clip that will stick to the back of your phone and can hold the charge. The clip is available in three colors. The charging prongs fold inside the charger and everything fits snug.
Kado is available with an Apple MFI-Approved Lightning charger/USB Type-C or even Micro USB. The Kado is capable of charging up to 10W and, it also supports the QuickCharge 2.1A. Furthermore, the charger is available in two avatars one for the US (Type A) and another EU (Type C/E/F) That being said it would have been helpful if the charger offered small reserve power akin to a powerbank. Kado is aesthetically pleasing and, it can be used in switchboards having a smaller opening area, for instance behind a sofa.
The Kado charger is currently up on Kickstarter and, the pledge starts from $39 for the Charger and $49 for a combo pack involving both charger and the clip for your phone. The shipping deadline is pegged as December this year. A quick look at the charger makes me wonder on why the smartphone manufacturers haven’t been offering something similar. Since most of the people like carrying their chargers, Kado proves to be a better alternative, it’s very slim and comes equipped with retractable cable.
