Xiaomi has released the Mi 5X at an event in China along with the MIUI 9. The Xiaomi Mi 5x is a much awaited mid segment phone that is based on the Mi 5 flagship. The Xiaomi Mi 5X has been teased before by Xiaomi and accordingly the phone comes equipped with a dual rear camera setup. The Mi 5X is being offered in Gold, Black and Rose Gold (Pink) colors and the registrations for the smartphone had begun earlier last week with the registration ticking 200,000 in the first 24 hours.
Xiaomi Mi 5X comes equipped with a 5.5-inch FHD display. The device is powered by an Octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 625 coupled with 4GB of RAM. On the storage front, the Xiaomi Mi 5X offers 64GB of internal storage. The Xiaomi 5X heralds with a much fresher looking design. This time around the antenna lines are concealed and the phone is pretty sleek at a thickness of 7.3mm. The fingerprint sensor sits at the rear just under the dual camera setup. Xiaomi has added a matt finish to the full metal body in order to create an Anti-fingerprint coating.
Xiaomi Mi 5X borrows the rear dual camera unit from the Mi 6. The Dual-Camera setup houses two 12MP sensors, one wide-angle and a telephoto lens. Just like Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus, the setup allows for 2X Optical Zoom and lets you alter the depth-of-field for bokeh shots. Thanks to the integrated ISP algorithms, you can even utilise the 10X digital zoom if required. Moreover, Xiaomi has also packed 4 axes Optical Image Stabilisation which works in tandem with the inbuilt accelerometer and gyroscope.
On the audio front, Xiaomi has included DHS Audio Calibration Algorithm in order to improve the headphone speaker output along with the Standalone audio amplifier. The Xiaomi Mi 5X will be available in China with the MIUI 9 and is priced at RMB 1499 (Rs 15,236/$236) for the 4GB+64GB variant.
