Apple is rumored to have been working on three iPhone variants this year, and until now we have been treated to a handful of renders and speculated specifications. The latest image that’s doing the rounds is apparently that of an iPhone 8. Posted by Evan Blass (@evleaks), the iPhone 8 sits snug in a case and shows of its entire front facade in the picture. The new image is in line with the recently leaked image of the iPhone 8 cutout that shows the wedge at the top.
The cut out/wedge at the top houses the proximity sensor, the front camera lens and also the earpiece. As far as the case is concerned, it’s from Urban Armor Gear. The renders show the date as March, but there isn’t much to dig around there. That being said, the bezels have been slimmed out, and the alleged iPhone 8 render looks a class apart. The renders do resemble the recently launched Essential phone by Andy Rubin.
One thing that is for sure is that this year a major chunk of premium smartphone flagships will boast of a bezel-less screen as their unique selling proposition. The Samsung Galaxy S8 and the LG G6 have already jumped onboard the bezel-less bandwagon while Google and Apple are expected to follow suit. If the renders are any indications of the upcoming iPhone, it shows how drastically Apple has deviated from their usual design philosophy. The design overhaul is also long overdue especially since Apple didn’t change much on the design front after the iPhone 6.
A couple of months back a Foxconn Employee had confirmed facial recognition and wireless charging on the upcoming iPhone. Furthermore, the report also claims that the new iteration of iPhone will come equipped with Retina Scanner as well.
