Fitbit’s upcoming watch has been spotted on new leaked photos that show off the device in various angles. The design lines seem to be inspired by Fitbit Surge and some bits also from the Fitbit blaze. The company has been on an acquisition spree lately, and after Pebble, it also acquired a relatively smaller smartwatch maker, Vector.
The pictures show a large heartbeat sensor at the bottom and are also expected to sport a GPS sensor and offer up to 50 meters of water resistance. It’s quite likely that Fitbit will employ a pulse oximeter sensor, one that measures the oxygen in users blood. The red sensor is also something that will provide a much accurate heart rate. In all likelihood, the new Fitbit smartwatch might make use of red light technology to get a more accurate heartbeat.
Furthermore, the button configuration seems to be similar to the Fitbit Blaze with two on the right and one on the left. Yet another questionable aspect is the apps, yes Fitbit needs an exhaustive set of apps if it has to take on other smartwatches in the market and maybe the company will finally launch their app store.
The battery life shouldn’t be a problem since Fitbit usually boasts of 5-days of backup and maybe they will pick up a cue or two from Pebble when it comes to battery life. The photos show the upcoming Fitbit in two shades, a silver watch face with navy strap and a rose gold watch face with a blue strap. I must say the Fitbit looks impressive in the photos and hope that they are well appointed as well. Fitbit is competing with other dominant players in the market including Apple Watch and also Garmin.
