WhatsApp’s beta channel has often been the source of a sneak peek into the new features. Recently WhatsApp was found testing the business profile feature, the one that allows business owners to communicate directly with the customers. WABetaInfo has been pretty accurate in unearthing hidden WhatsApp features and this time around, they have spotted a group calling feature for the iOS app.
As per WABetaInfo, the WhatsApp v2.17.70 beta for iPhone update comes with code references that point towards a group voice and video calling feature. This is what WABetaInfo had to say “The 2.17.70 update has very hidden references to group calls! Before that was an internal news, now it’s all confirmed.” they further Tweeted that “There are a lot of hidden references about group voice calls, but there is only one reference to group video calls. So group video calls are partially confirmed at the moment.”
Furthermore, they also said that the administrator will be given more options on the iOS version of the app. The admin will be able to add and remove multiple participants in a single go. Also, the admins will be able to control the access needed to modify the subject of the group. On a related note, Facebook Messenger and Skype already have the group calling feature up and running.
In the meanwhile, the Group Voice calling is nearly confirmed as one could find multiple mentions of the same. However, the group video calling is mentioned only once and in all likelihood, the feature may be added at a much later stage. WhatsApp is also speculated to be testing Unsend and Delete for Everyone features across its platform. More importantly, there will also be a feature which would prevent the group creator from being deleted by other members. Apple iOS 11 users are facing a ton of problems with the WhatsApp, latest being the delay in pushing the notification on the home screen.
