Xiaomi has now launched two new power banks in India. Meet the Mi Power Bank 2i, the successors to the 10,000mAH and 20,000mAH Mi Power Bank 2 that were launched in the country earlier in June. The additional ‘i’ in the name of these power bricks stands for India. Apparently, the Mi 2i Power Banks are ‘Made in India’ at Xiaomi’s recently inaugurated plant in Noida.
Xiaomi has been one of the major stakeholders of ‘Make in India’ campaign ever since its announcement by the new Narendra Modi government. It has established local manufacturing of its smartphones, and all popular devices selling in India are currently assembled in its plant in Telangana.
The Mi range of accessories, however, were being imported from China. This resulted in not only higher cost prices, but also limited stocks. The newly established plant in Uttar Pradesh in collaboration with HiPad Technology aims to overcome these production line issues. As per an official Xiaomi statement, the new production line in Noida is capable of manufacturing seven power banks per minute.
The two new Xiaomi Mi Power Bank 2i shares similar design and specifications with their predecessor. That said, the dimension of the Mi 2i banks are slightly different. Moreover, both these power banks are capable of two-way fast charging.
As for the pricing, the 10,000mAH and 20,000mAH Mi Power Bank 2i are priced at Rs 799 and Rs 1,499 respectively. They will be available both at Mi.com and Mi Home Stores starting November 23. Additionally, the power banks will retail through a number of Xiaomi’s offline partners starting December.
