After teasing the launch on Amazon for the past several days, Samsung has today officially introduced the Galaxy A8+ in India. The new high-end smartphone is primarily targeted at the selfie crowd and features two front-facing cameras. In addition to that, the Galaxy A8+ comes with an edge-to-edge panel for challenging its recently launched fellow competitors, most notably the Huawei View10 and OnePlus 5T.
As far as specifications are concerned, the Galaxy A8+ has a 6.0-inch FHD+ AMOLED screen on the front and is powered by an octa-core processor. Underneath, there’s a massive 3,500mAh battery which supports quick charging. The company is bringing only a single variant to India which sports 6GB of RAM and 64GB internal memory. The phone is compatible with a MicroSD card for expanding it further up to 256GB.
The camera arrangement includes a 16-megapixel rear f/1.7 sensor. However, the phone’s highlight lies in the dual-camera setup on the front. It houses a 16-megapixel shooter and a secondary 8-megapixel lens for producing Live Focus and depth-of-field effects in your selfies. Another standout feature of the new Galaxy A8+ is its IP68-certified waterproof exterior, a rarity in its price segment. Moreover, there’s also a fingerprint reader on the back and a USB Type-C port on the bottom.
The Samsung Galaxy A8+ runs on Android Nougat out of the box with the company’s own custom skin on top. It will be available in three color variants — Black, Orchid Grey, and Blue. The Galaxy A8+ is priced at Rs 32,990 and will be exclusively sold on Amazon starting from this month’s 20th.
