Sony seems to be all set to unveil its all-new lineup of smartphones at the upcoming MWC. If leaks are something to go by, Sony is expected to launch the Xperia XZ2 smartphone. It is quite likely that Sony may also launch a premium variant calling it the Xperia XZ2 Pro. A new smartphone with the Xperia XZ2 Pro has marked its appearance on HTML benchmark tests. As expected the benchmarks reveal a lot of specifications about the alleged Xperia XZ2 Pro.
The device bears a model number of H8116 and is running Android 8.1 Oreo. The screen resolution is mentioned as 848 x 424 and this inadvertently points at a display with an aspect ratio of 2:1. In all likelihood, Sony may employ a totally different design to accommodate the 18:9 display. To be frank, it is high time that Sony ditches its OmniBalance design and moves on to something that looks modern.
That being said this is not the first time the “Sony H8116” has been spotted. The rumor mills are speculating that the Sony Xperia XZ2 Pro maybe the first smartphone to come with a 4K OLED display. The earlier leaks had pointed out at a 2160 x 3840 pixel display and it all fits in together. The Sony Xperia XZ2 Pro is expected to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 and will offer a choice of 64GB or 128GB of internal storage along with microSD card. On the camera front, Sony is likely to use a dual rear camera (18-Megapixel+12-Megapixel) setup alongside a 13-Megapixel selfie camera. Other options include a dual-SIM variant, IP68 certification and a 3,420mAh battery.
As we said earlier, the rumors are pegging the launch at the upcoming MWC and the device is likely to be priced in the $900 -$1000 bracket. We are still not sure if Sony will reserve the Snapdragon 845 for the Xperia XZ2 Pro or if it will share the same SoC with the Xperia XZ2 as well.
