Xiaomi has launched a new pocket-sized AI camera on its crowdfunding platform. It’s called Small Silent AI camera and is made by a reasonably small smart accessories manufacturer in China. The device is listed for 349 Yuan (Rs 3,580/$55) on the Mijia platform, with the first round of shipping expected to commence from April 15.
The Small Silent AI camera is very convenient to carry around due to its square dimensions. It’s decently light too at just 65 grams. Hardware wise, the camera features a 13MP f/2.2 Samsung BSI sensor on the back equipped with a Phase Detection Autofocus sensor. The camera promises a focusing time of just 0.3 seconds.
The all-new camera can be used in a variety of different ways. Apart from shooting handheld images with the camera, one can mount it on any metal surface, thanks to the presence of a magnetic base. Additionally, the Small Silent AI camera can turn glass, walls and even trees into a makeshift camera stand due to its 360-degree hinge.
One of the major highlighting features of the AI camera is its gesture recognition feature, much of which is due to the camera’s AI capabilities. The camera comes with a number of smart features including a beauty function which helps detect key points on a subject’s face and automatically applies a series of preset beauty effects.
Powering the Small Silent AI camera is a 1.3Ghz Cortex A53 quad-core processor. Besides, it features 8GB internal storage and a micro SD card slot for memory expansion. It also packs a 910mAh battery. The Silent AI camera misses out on an LCD display, and users need to download a dedicated app to preview images and videos shot by it. Moreover, the app provides users with the option for sharing these images on several social media platforms.
The Small Silent AI camera appears to be a pretty good offering on paper, at least when compared to its rock-bottom price, however, it very unlikely that Xiaomi will bring the cam to its international markets including India anytime soon.
