Alongside the all-new Moto G6 lineup, Lenovo owned Motorola has launched its budget E5 series. It includes three new smartphones namely the Moto E5, Moto E5 Plus, and Moto E5 Play. All three devices will be available for sale globally starting May or June.

Moto E5

Among the trio, the Moto E5 Plus is by far the most powerful and costliest smartphone. The Moto E5 Play, on the other hand, is the cheapest and will be available in North America including the USA in the coming few months. Incidentally, Motorola hasn’t revealed the pricing details of the Moto E5 Play yet.

Both the Moto E5 and the Moto E5 Plus come with an 18:9 HD+ IPS LCD display. With that said, the panel on the Plus is larger at 5.93 inches than the 5.7-inch one seen in the normal Moto E5. Moreover, the devices also share the same processor namely the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 mobile platform.

Unlike the Moto E5, the Plus variant comes with two different variants. The base one comes with a 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, whereas the higher end one features 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. Additionally, both the variants come with memory expanding capability via a microSD card. Another difference between the Moto E5 and E5 Plus is in the rear camera. The Plus model comes with a 12MP rear sensor that’s equipped with Laser Autofocus and PDAF. On the contrary, the 13MP shooter on the standard E5 misses out on the Laser focusing tech. The battery is also on the lower side, at just 4,000mAH.

Finally, the Moto E5 Play features a standard 5.2 inch HD display and would be powered by either a Snapdragon 425/427 quad-core mobile platform depending on the country of sale. Being a lower-priced device, the specs of the smartphone aren’t as impressive as that of the other two. It comes with a just an 8MP rear and a 5MP front camera. Even then, it’s the only Moto E5 series device to come with a P2i water-repellent nano-coating.

The Moto E5 and Moto E5 Plus will be available in part of Asia Pacific, Europe, Latin and North America in the coming few months. On the contrary, the Moto E5 Play will be primarily available in North America, especially USA. Coming to the price; the Moto E5 and Moto E5 Plus are marked at $184 (Rs 12,180) and $209 (Rs 13,850) respectively.
