There are not many phone brands that have a huge fan following and loyal user base. In the last decade, it was Nokia and Blackberry. However, as we tuned into the mid of this decade OnePlus has garnered all the love(along with others like Xiaomi). OnePlus has now launched the much awaited OnePlus 6 at an event in London. The device does come with some landmark design changes alongside the usual hardware updates. OnePlus 6 will be available in three variants, the 6GB/64GB and the 8GB/128GB and the 8GB/256GB.
OnePlus 6 comes equipped with a bigger 6.28-inch display as opposed to the 6-01-inch on its predecessor. Thankfully the overall footprint of the device has not increased with the increase in the size of the display. This time around OnePlus has decided to opt for a glass back. The glass back will be available in two variations, the usual glossy glass and the other a glass treated with a matte finish. However, all the variants will come with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5 back. The fingerprint sensor is placed at the back and OnePlus has added gestures for those who wish to disable the navigation keys.
That apart OnePlus has also jumped into the notch bandwagon and thus the display adheres to a 19:9 aspect ratio. The OnePlus 6 is powered by the Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with 8GB of RAM. As far as graphics is concerned the OnePlus 6 employs Adreno 630. The company claims to have worked on the OxygenOS 5.1 so that the device doesn’t slow down with prolonged usage. On the storage front, the device offers a choice between 64GB/128GB/256GB of internal storage. The gaming mode will now not only mute notifications but will also ensure that all the processing power is diverted to the gaming needs.
OnePlus 6 offers a dual Rear camera setup, 20MP+16MP Sony IMX519/376, OIS+EIS. Sadly enough not much has changed on the camera front. OnePlus has made minor changes, for instance, the 16-Megapixel camera is mated to a larger sensor and offers Optical Image Stabilisation along with EIS. That apart OnePlus 6 has borrowed the 20-Megapixel f/1.7 primary sensor at the back and the 16-Megapixel lens on the front from its predecessor. Yet another mention worthy feature is the portrait mode for the front-facing camera.
The OnePlus 6 price starts at $529 for the 6+64GB variant while the top of the line 8GB+256GB variant costs $629. Meanwhile, the 8GB+128GB variant is priced at $579. As of now, the OnePlus 6 will be available in Mirror Black and Midnight Black colors followed by a limited edition Silk White color at a later stage. The OnePlus 6 will retail on the official OnePlus website, partner channels and popup stores with a global presence.
