TCL-owned brand, Alcatel, had unveiled a bunch of new phones at CES 2018 before launching them and making them official at MWC this year. The several phones launched include the Alcatel 1X, Alcatel 3, Alcatel 3V, Alcatel 3X, and Alcatel 5, out of which just the 3V has been launched in India.
Alcatel 3V Features
The Alcatel 3V sports a 6-inch display with a resolution of 1080×2160 (full HD+) and the tall 18:9 aspect ratio with a 2.5D curved glass panel. The device is powered by MediaTek’s MT8735A mobile platform along with the Mali-T720 MP2 GPU coupled with 3GB of RAM as opposed to the 2GB on the global variants.
On the optics front, the Alcatel 3V comes with a dual camera setup to the back with a 16MP primary sensor with an aperture of f/2.2 and a 5MP secondary sensor with f/2.4 aperture for depth sensing. There’s also a dual LED flash next to the camera module. The camera on the Indian variant seems to be improved over the Global one with the inclusion of a dedicated Bokeh mode, Zero Shutter Lag, Phase detection Auto Focus and remarkably, Electronic Image Stabilization (commonly referred to as EIS) which should help with smooth video recording. The front-facing 8MP shooter is also accompanied by an LED flash and a host of features including Face Beauty, a Social Mode and an Instant Collage mode. There’s also support for face unlock which the company is referring to as ‘Face Key’.
The improvement on the specifications front in the Indian unit compared to the Global one is also notable in terms of internal storage which is 32GB, double when compared to 16GB on the Global one. The storage is expandable up to 128GB through a micro SD card.
Other basic features include support for 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v4.2, a micro-USB port for charging as well as data syncing and all the necessary sensors including gyroscope for VR. There is a fingerprint scanner on the back of the device, and running everything is a 3000mAh battery. The box is also said to include a free transparent case which is always a nice touch.
The Alcatel 3V is priced at Rs. 9,999 and will be available exclusively on Flipkart from 31st May 2018. There are a few launch offers including instant cashback of Rs. 2,200 for all Jio customers and a gift card worth Rs. 1000 from Myntra and a few other bank offers.
