BlackBerry is all set to unveil a new or a pair of new smartphones in India. The company has sent out press invites for a launch scheduled on the 2nd of next month. While the invitation doesn’t hint at a specific model, we’re expecting BlackBerry to finally take the wraps off the Evolve series which has been rumored for a while now. It does say “Secure your Data” which essentially confirms obvious security features that are common among BlackBerry’s Android phones.
Unlike the company’s Key lineup which comes a physical keyboard, the Evolve smartphones are anticipated to be all-screen. According to a bunch of earlier reports, there will be two variants — the Evolve and Evolve X. As for the specifications, the phones are expected to feature a large 4000mAh battery and two camera sensors on the rear, one of which could be a telephoto lens.
In addition, a render leaked by Evan Blass suggested the new phones will have a standard design with metal frame and antenna cutouts on the side and the bottom. A week ago, BlackBerry also brought its flagship Key2 smartphone to India for a sum of Rs 42,990. As before, Optiemus will be responsible for manufacturing and the distribution of the forthcoming BlackBerry phones.
Like before, the fate of BlackBerry’s new smartphone series will largely come down to how well the company prices it. With competitors introducing products nearly every week at competitive costs, BlackBerry’s chances of surviving have never been in a more turbulent state. We will have more on the phones on Thursday when BlackBerry officially unveils them.
