Fossil’s fourth-generation of Android Wear powered Fossil Q lineup has arrived in India just a day after being announced for the United States. The new Q Venture HR and Q Explorist HR retain the company’s simple, modern aesthetic with a host of advanced features including a heart-rate sensor and a standalone GPS chip.
The new smartwatches sport NFC as well for enabling Google Play, although that won’t matter here in India. In addition, they’re built out of stainless steel and have a color touchscreen. On a single charge, Fossil claims these watches can last more than a day. Another key highlight of the Q Venture HR and Q Explorist HR is that they can be charged both wirelessly or a magnetic connector.
Sadly, both of them are still powered by the two-year-old Snapdragon 2100 chip. A refresh for the same is expected to go official later this year, possibly at Google’s annual hardware event. Apart from that, the Fossil Q Venture HR and Q Explorist HR feature all the standard fitness abilities such as tracking your exercises (including swims) as well as sleep and sync with Google Fit.
However, you’ll have to wait quite a while if you’re looking to acquire any of these since the Fossil Q Venture HR and Q Explorist HR won’t go on sale before October in India. The former is priced at Rs 19,995, while the latter costs Rs. 21,995. They’re compatible with phones running iOS 9.3+ and Android 4.4+.
Commenting further on the launch, Steve Evans, EVP of Fossil stated, “Since our entry to the smartwatch market, it has always been our first priority to be nimble and adapt quickly to innovations-both in technology and design. We know a lot of watch wearers have both a traditional watch and some kind of an activity tracker— by adding significant features in terms of technology, without compromising our design standards, this new generation of smartwatch will provide consumers with one device that fits all of their needs. Ensuring the best possible experience for our customers has always been important, which drove the innovation of this product; we cannot wait to see the consumer response around the globe.”
