HMD Global has launched three new Nokia smartphones in India, the Nokia 5.1, Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 2.1. While the 5.1 and 3.1 are a part of the Android One program, the lower-end 2.1 comes with Android Go edition. The smartphones will be available to purchase starting August 12th in offline retail stores and online on Paytm Mall as well as Nokia’s official website.
Nokia 5.1 Specifications
The best of the three phones to be launched, the Nokia 5.1 is built out of 6000 series aluminum and like most other Nokia devices, it lives up to the expectations in terms of build and design. The 5.1 sports a 5.5-inch display with a Full HD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, the Mediatek Helio P18 octa-core SoC clocked at 2 GHz handles CPU duties which Nokia claims is up to 40% faster than the SD 435 used on the last-gen Nokia 5. The rear camera is a 16MP shooter with PDAF, and the front-facing selfie shooter is an 8MP unit. There is a fingerprint scanner mounted on the rear which can also be used to authorize contactless payments through NFC.
The Nokia 5.1 will be sold in just one variant with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage in three color options – Copper, Tempered Blue and Black for a price of Rs. 14,499.
Nokia 3.1 Specifications
Following up Nokia’s most successful phone in its comeback line-up, which was the Nokia 3, the Nokia 3.1 brings some much-needed upgrades along with a 2018 touch. The front now has a 5.2-inch HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a 720p resolution and 2.5D curved Gorilla Glass. Under the hood, it runs on the MediaTek MT6750 which is an octa-core chip claimed to provide 50% better performance when compared to last year’s model. The rear camera is a 13MP unit while the front-facing camera is rated at 8MP.
The Nokia 3.1 will come with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage and will be sold for Rs. 11,999 in three colors, namely Blue/Copper, Black/Chrome and White/Iron.
Nokia 2.1 Specifications
Nokia’s battery beast has received an upgrade too in the form of the Nokia 2.1. It now comes with a 5.5-inch HD display with the older 16:9 aspect ratio and is targeted towards an audience inclined towards media consumption, as it now sports dual front firing stereo speakers. Handling performance is a Snapdragon 425 SoC along with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. There’s an 8MP rear camera and a 5MP front-facing shooter.
The Nokia 2.1 will be available in three colors – Blue/Copper, Blue/Silver, Grey/Silver for a price of Rs. 6,999.
Speaking about launch offers, consumers buying any of the three phones from a retail outlet by scanning the Paytm Mall QR code will get 10% cashback on recharges and bill payments on Paytm. ICICI bank cardholders will receive a cashback of 5% on purchasing a Nokia 5.1 or 3.1. Idea and Vodafone customers will also receive a few exclusive additional data offers.
HMD has scheduled a launch event for August 21st where we expect to see the Nokia 6.1 Plus (apparently the global version of Nokia X6) launch in India. Stay tuned.
