After having to prepone their global launch by a day to avoid a clash with Apple’s event, OnePlus has today launched the OnePlus 6T in India for a price starting at Rs. 37,999.
The specs of the OnePlus 6T remain largely similar to that of the OnePlus 6, especially under the hood. The OnePlus 6T, like its predecessor, runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC along with 6 or 8GB RAM options, but this time around, OnePlus has bumped up the storage on the base variant to 128GB while the top end variant comes with 256GB of UFS 2.1 storage.
The cameras are the same as well, at 16 and 20MP on the rear with an aperture of f/1.7 and the front gets a 16MP selfie shooter as well. There is a new night mode which tries to mimic the Pixel’s Night Sight implementation to try and make up for the lack of changes in the camera hardware.
Coming to the front, this is where we start seeing the first major change. The display, while still Full HD+ and AMOLED, does away with the bigger notch in favor of a water drop style notch and hence stretches the already large display even further to 6.41 inches protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 6. Under the display now resides a fingerprint scanner which has been relocated from the back, much like the Vivo NEX or the recently launched Huawei Mate 20 Pro.
The battery is now a beefier 3700mAh unit compared to the 3300mAh one on the OnePlus 6 and to achieve this, OnePlus had to do away with the headphone jack, unfortunately, which means you’ll either have to go wireless or use the included dongle if you wish to use your existing earphones. The OnePlus 6T runs on Android 9 Pie out of the box with OxygenOS which maintains an almost-stock profile along with a few nifty features. The 6T, like it’s predecessor is “everyday water resistant” meaning it can take some light spills or rain, but still no IP certification.
Much like every OnePlus smartphone launched in India in the past, the OnePlus 6T will be available online exclusively on Amazon India from 1st November and in the OnePlus Experience Stores as well as retail outlets like Croma and Reliance Digital from November 3rd starting at Rs. 37,999 for the base 6+128GB variant while the 8+128GB version will cost you Rs. 41,999 and the top-end 8+256GB variant will be available for Rs. 45,999 in two color variants – Mirror Black and Midnight Black.
