Xiaomi is all set to add another smartphone to its extensive Redmi lineup in India. The company has sent out press invites for a launch event on the 22nd November with a tagline that says “The New Note Rises”. While we’re not sure yet, it’s possible Xiaomi might bring the Redmi Note 6 Pro which was unveiled back in September in Thailand.
The Redmi Note 6 Pro’s biggest highlight is its two pairs of cameras situated both on the front and rear. On the back, you will find a regular 12-megapixel f/1.9 lens paired with a secondary 5-megapixel snapper for depth-sensing. Similarly, for selfies, you have a primary 20-megapixel shooter along with a 2-megapixel sensor for depth sensing.
The phone features a familiar all-aluminum design you will come across on nearly every other Redmi phone and a notch-equipped 6.26-inch 1080p screen. Much like its predecessor, it’s powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 octa-core chipset, 4GB/6GB of RAM, 64GB/128GB of onboard storage which is expandable, and an ample 4000mAh battery. The Redmi Note 6 Pro comes preloaded with Android 8.1 layered with the company’s own MIUI skin. It’s possible that the Indian variant comes with Android 9 Pie based MIUI 10 out of the box. In addition, it’s compatible with two SIM cards and sports a rear-mounted fingerprint reader. It comes in three colors — Black, Blue, and Rose Gold.
In Thailand, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro was priced at 6,990 Thai Baht which roughly translates to Rs 15,600. That’s about the same cost Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 5 Pro sells for but considering the rise of a few other brands in the segment of late such as RealMe, we expect Xiaomi to price this one quite aggressively. Stay tuned for more details in coming days.
Update: It IS the Redmi Note 6 Pro indeed.
