Xiaomi has today launched its first anti-pollution mask in India. Considering the deteriorating air quality in the country over the years, it was long overdue. The new mask is called the Mi AirPOP PM2.5 and comes in a pack of two for a price of Rs 249. As of now, Xiaomi is selling the mask straight from its Mi official site starting today and has not come up with plans on them partnering with third-party dealers to sell the mask to masses.
Xiaomi Mi AirPOP PM2.5 Features
Xiaomi claims that its new mask will provide 99 percent PM2.5 protection using a four-layer filtration process. The four filtration layers include primary, support-mesh, electrostatic micro-filtration, and water permeable layers, which help in combatting air pollutants, grease, smoke, etc. The primary layer of the mask is specifically designed to block-out larger particles, whereas the support mesh provides a 3D structure to the mask for a snug and comfortable fit. The electrostatic micro-filtration layer helps in blocking-out comparatively smaller particles (around 0.3 micrometers in diameter), while the water-permeable layer helps in reducing any kind of vapor buildup on the face to prevent eyeglass fogging.
The Mi AirPOP mask comes with an advanced air circulation vent and uses skin-friendly material which makes it comfortable to wear for a long period of time, without leaving a mark on the face. Xiaomi has taken good care of the fit and comfort and has used the 3D soft sponge technology, which helps it to adjust to the facial features of the face it is put on. In addition to that, it also has a large vortex breathing valve that discharges warm air and vapor to increase the ease in breathing, while blocking out air pollutants.
