As smartphone upgrade cycles continue to stagnant especially in premium segments, companies have scurried to find new means of revenues. OnePlus is no different and to drive more sales, it’s announcing a new buyback program in India. Called OnePlus Assured Upgrade, the optional plan will allow owners to trade in their OnePlus 6T with up to 70% return values.
OnePlus Assured Upgrade will cost an additional Rs 199 and will be available only for OnePlus 6T purchases done between tomorrow i.e. January 19th and January 27th. The buyback sum itself is determined simply based on how old your phone is. For usage of between 3-5 months, you get 70% of the original value, 55% if it’s been more than six months since you bought it and 40% for 9-12 months. The offer is incompatible with purchases that are over a year old or for existing OnePlus 6T owners.
The exchange, once you have signed up for one on the OnePlus Care app, can take place either at one of OnePlus’ authorized centers or on Amazon through their Guaranteed Exchange Program.
In addition, OnePlus has also announced a bunch of offers on the OnePlus 6T for Amazon’s Republic Day sales. HDFC card owners can avail a flat Rs 1,500 discount and an additional INR 2,000 off on exchange of anyone’s old devices will be available too.
Commenting further on the launch, Vikas Agarwal, General Manager, OnePlus India, said, “At OnePlus, our constant endeavor is to innovate and delight our loyal community of users. Our community has always been technologically forward and a vast majority of them also upgrade to subsequent OnePlus devices. With the ‘OnePlus Assured Upgrade’ program, we are excited to make upgrading to future OnePlus flagships even easier.”
