HTC U19e and HTC Desire 19+ Launched in Taiwan

After a long wait, HTC has today launched two new smartphones, the HTC U19e and the Desire 19+, in Taiwan. The company says that the characters in the name, ‘U19e’, signify something on their own, with ‘U’ – representing the line, ’19’ – representing the current year, and ‘e’ – representing entertainment.

In terms of design, the HTC U19e features a 6-inch Full HD+ OLED display with a 2160 x 1080 pixels screen resolution, 18:9 aspect ratio, HDR10 support, and Gorilla Glass (not confirmed yet) on top. At its core, the smartphone is powered by an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor, paired with 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 128GB of internal storage (expandable up to 2TB with a microSD card). In terms of other hardware specifications, the U19e comes USB Type-C 3.1 with display port, rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, dual stereo speakers, and microphone. It has a 3930mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging and runs on Android 9.0 Pie.

In terms of camera, the HTC U19e sports a dual camera setup on the front and the rear, with a 12MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture + 24MP secondary 2x telescope sensor with EIS, PDAF, and LED flash on the rear, and a 24MP primary sensor + 2MP secondary sensor on the front for selfies and facial recognition. The camera also supports AI optimized scene recognition technology that can automatically identify different types of scenes like portrait, low light, backlit, macro, food, scenery, and file.

In terms of design, the HTC Desire 19+ a 6.2-inch HD+ display with a waterdrop notch on the top. Under the hood, it is powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek Helio P35, paired 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. The smartphone has a 3850mAh battery with no fast charging support and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner for authentication. Similar to the HTC U19e, it also runs on Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box.

In terms of optics, the HTC Desire+ sports a triple camera setup on the rear with a 13MP primary sensor + 8MP ultra wide-angle sensor + 5MP depth sensor. And a 16MP front-facing camera for selfies and facial recognition.

The HTC U19e comes in two color options: Extraordinary Purple and Modest Green. It is priced at TWD 14,900 (~ USD 475 / INR 32,900) and will go on sale in Taiwan starting June 12.

The HTC Desire 19+ comes in two colour options: Star Can Blue and Jasmine White and two configurations: 4GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB, priced at TWD 9,990 (~ USD 318 / INR 22,000) and TWD 10,990 (~ USD 350 / INR 24,300), respectively.
